Below are the common regulatory authorities and the types of controlled goods they oversee:
*BSMI (Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection): Home appliances (refrigerators, TVs, electric cookers, etc.), toys (for children under 14), textiles (underwear, towels, bedding, etc.), car tires/steel rims, lighting fixtures (indoor lamps), paint, luggage, massage devices, batteries, etc.
*NCC (National Communications Commission): Goods with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi functionality, or goods equipped with wireless remote controls.
*BOFT (Bureau of Foreign Trade): Hardware accessories (screws, aluminum/steel products), ceramic tiles, solar panels, bedding, electronic locks, radar equipment, grinding wheels, electric vehicles, electric drills, water heaters, socks, face masks, etc.
*Quarantine/BAPHIQ: Animals (including animal food), plants (including fertilizer), cat litter, wood shavings, feathers, etc.
*FDA (Food and Drug Administration): Disinfectants, medicines, food products, tableware, etc.
*MOHW (Ministry of Health and Welfare): Medical devices (beauty/aesthetic devices, moxibustion equipment, wheelchairs), medicated cosmetics (with acne-fighting or anti-wrinkle claims), hair dye, reading glasses, medical masks, etc.
*Counterfeit goods, counterfeit bags, and branded items involve trademark infringement and intellectual property laws; please do not attempt to bypass these laws.
*E-cigarettes and related accessories/parts (including heating devices and pods/cartridges)—whether they contain nicotine or not—cannot be shipped. Importers face fines ranging from 10 million to 50 million, alongside orders to rectify, recall, destroy, or return the goods within a specified timeframe. Failure to comply will result in consecutive fines.
*Please note that breaking large shipments into smaller pieces to evade customs, counterfeit/infringing items, and contraband are currently top priorities for Customs enforcement.
