Regulations on importing food from mainland China to Taiwan
Basic classification of food

Food is divided into three categories according to its functions:
*Health (functional) food
*foods for special dietary uses
*Ordinary food (food)

1. Commonalities and differences between health (functional) foods and general foods:
① Health (functional) foods contain a certain amount of functional ingredients (physiologically active substances), which can regulate the functions of the human body and have specific functions (the third function of food); while general foods do not emphasize specific functions (the third function of food) .
②Health (functional) foods generally have a specific consumption range (specific groups of people); while general foods have no specific consumption range.
③General foods also contain physiologically active substances. Due to the low content, they cannot reach the concentration that regulates functions in the human body and cannot achieve their efficacy. The physiologically active substances in health-care (functional) foods are extracted, separated, and concentrated (or some physiologically active substances with higher purity are added), so that they can reach the concentration that exerts their effects in the human body, thus possessing the third quality of food. Three functions.

2. The difference between health (functional) foods and special dietary foods:
Health (functional) foods must pass animal or human experiments and prove their effectiveness
It has obvious and stable efficacy; while special dietary foods do not need to pass animal or human experiments, and do not need to prove that they have obvious efficacy.

3. There is a strict distinction between health (functional) foods and medicines
Medicines are substances that treat diseases; while health (functional) foods are still food in essence. Although they can regulate certain functions of the human body, they cannot treat diseases.

H15. Imported goods are limited to 50,000NTD? When is a formal customs declaration required?

General customs declarations are divided into simple declarations and formal declarations. In order to simplify the declaration procedure for personal express parcels, if the goods are exported via express delivery and the value is less than NT$50,000, the simplified customs declaration procedure can be adopted. If the value of the goods is more than NT$50,000, formal customs declaration will be used instead. In addition, products such as alcohol/tobacco/cigars also require formal customs declaration. In addition, goods whose length/width/height exceed 90 centimeters on both sides or whose weight exceeds 70 kilograms must also use the normal customs clearance method.

We would like to remind our member partners that if the value of your goods is higher than 50,000 yuan, but the under-declared price is audited by the customs, in addition to the tax that should be paid, the fee for changing the official declaration, there will also be fines for false declarations. Therefore, when you want to ship high-priced items, please be sure to contact our customer service.

J2. Taiwan Exports to the UK: Taxation Regulations

Packages Imported (Arriving) from Countries outside the UK
Most goods arriving in the UK are subject to any or all of the following taxes:
*Customs Duties
*Excise Duty
*Import or Supply Value Added Tax (VAT)
These are typically payable when:
*Purchasing goods or receiving them as gifts
*Goods are new or second-hand (including antiques)
*Goods are intended for your personal use or resale
A. Tariff and Import VAT Thresholds
Details regarding tariff and import VAT thresholds, as well as any changes applicable after the UK's departure from the EU, are outlined below.
For goods imported from outside the UK with a value not exceeding £135 (aligned with the threshold for customs duty liability), we have shifted the point of collection for VAT from the point of import to the point of sale. This means that these goods will be subject to UK Supply VAT rather than Import VAT.
The £135 limit applies to the total value of imported goods rather than the individual value of items within the consignment.
In summary:
Package Value
Customs Fees
0.00 ~ £135
No Customs fees
No Import fees
135.01 英鎊及以上
Customs fees apply
Import fees apply
"Not including: alcohol, tobacco products, perfumes, and fragrances."
B. Gifts
Gifts with a value up to £39 qualify for an exemption from import VAT. Gifts exceeding this value are subject to Import VAT. If the value of the goods exceeds £135, customs duty is also payable.
Conditions for qualifying as a gift:
*The customs declaration must be correctly filled out.
*The gift must be sent from a private individual outside the UK to a private individual inside the UK.
*There should be no commercial or trade elements, and the gift should not have been paid for directly or indirectly by anyone in the UK.
*The gift should be occasional, such as for a birthday or anniversary.
If you purchase something from outside the UK as a gift for a relative or friend, regardless of whether it is sent to that person, it will be considered a "commercial sale".
C. Tobacco and Alcohol Product Gifts
Gifts of tobacco and alcohol products valued at £39 or less are eligible for exemption from import duties and import VAT. However, there are restrictions on the quantity of each product as follows:

*Individually declared on the customs declaration
*Within the allowed limits
*Priced individually on the declaration for each item
If more than one package is sent to a specific person, the value of the goods will be added together. If the total value exceeds £39, import VAT will be charged. If the value exceeds £135, customs duty may also be required.
If a package contains multiple types of items intended for use by more than one person, these items should be separately described and the value should be indicated on the customs declaration. For import VAT, only items reaching the £39 threshold for import VAT are eligible for relief. J9. Malaysian Import Considerations

Understand Malaysian Import and Export Duties in One Go!
Duty Classification and Import/Export Duties
Malaysia adopts the Harmonized System (HS) for classifying goods. All import and export goods are subject to Sales and Services Tax (SST) unless specifically exempted, with the tax rate varying depending on the goods. You can check Malaysian customs duty rates at: Malaysian Customs Duty Rates
Import Duties
Applicable tax rates depend on the origin of the goods, and proof of origin must be provided. For more information on product origins, visit the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) website: MITI Product Origin Information.
Approximately 75% of imported goods to Malaysia are duty-free, with an average tax rate of about 6%. Countries with Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Malaysia enjoy lower tariff rates, which can be checked using MITI’s FTA Tariff Calculator: FTA Tariff Calculator.
The Customs Duties Order (2017) outlines all applicable rates for countries without trade agreements with Malaysia: Customs Duties Order 2017.
Export Duties
Except for Malaysia’s primary commodities (such as crude oil and palm oil), almost all goods are exempt from export duties. Applicable rates range from 0% to 15%, depending on the category of goods. For more details on export duty rates, refer to the Customs Duties Order (2017).

           a. Detailed information on the officially declared goods (you will be given the template "Formal Customs Declaration Template" to fill in and return)
